CO.R.E. - EUROAVIA Napoli "Umberto Nobile"

The first EUROAVIA Napoli Modelling Workshop, in which 20 students, divided into 4 teams, had to put their skills to the test and create a fully functional Airplane Model. The contest was divided into two phases: april 26-27 the teams we’re given a series of lectures that introduced them to the world of aeromodelling and from may 3-6 they spent their time within the University Building their model aircraft. Finally the event ended on may 14th, when the planes were put to the test at the Campo Volo.

The first EUROAVIA Napoli COding Rocket Event Workshop, in which 25 students, divided into 5 teams, had to put their skills to the test and create a fully functional Rocket Model. The contest was divided into two phases: april 12-14 the teams we’re given a series of lectures that introduced them to the world of coding and aerospace aerodynamic of little rockets and from 15-19 they spent their time within the University Building their model rocket. Finally the event ended on april 20th, when the rocket were put to the test at the Campo Volo.

Event program

-12/04: Workshop introduction. Initial theory lessons about components. Organizers held class about Fusion 360 modelling, Aerodynamic Theory held by dr. Guida Riccardo and dr. Cassese Sergio, introduction to Open Rocket simulator.

-13/04: Basic theory lessons. Dr. Daniele Iacomino and Ing Alessia Sieczak from G-Reds Aerospace held a lesson about arduino and telemetry radio transmission. Afterwards, the organizers explained to the participants how to approach arduino commands. Beginning of the first design phase.

-14/04: MathLab introduction headed by UninaCorse E-Team. MathLab exercitation. Beginning of the second design phase.

-15/04: First deadline. CAD project submission.

–17/04: Sponsor presentation. Tesi and Alten enterprices introduced themselfs. Beginning of the third design phase, second deadline: OpenRocket project submission.

-18/04: First Assembling phase.

-19/04: Second assembling phase. third deadline: report and prototype submission.

-20/04: Launch day

26/04: Introduction of the event, partners presentation and initial theory lectures. onRaffaele Aucelli introduced the event, the schedule. Afterwhich were held two lectures: airplane components and design strategies ;

27/04: Basic theory lessons. Professors Fabrizio Nicolosi and Danilo Ciliberti introduced the participants to model aircraft aerodynamics and flight mechanics. Furthermore, giving them an insight on the powerful design tool OpenVSP. Then the staff held a presentation on aeromodelling construction;

03-06/05: Construction. The participants at this point started construction, aided by the staff;

06/05: Report delivery deadline. This document had to contain all the details about the decision making and the information about their work;

14/05: Flight test and report presentation day .
